importance of chooti diwali

On the second day of five day Diwali festival, this chhoti Diwali is celebrated which is also called as the day of 'Naraka Chaturdashi' or small Diwali. It is believed that Lord Krishna defeated the devil Narakasur on this day putting an end to evil. So this day is very important day for Indians and they celebrate the day as chhoti Diwali.  People celebrate this day with burning fewer crackers over the victory of Lord Krishna.

Chhoti Diwali is celebrated differently in south by performing different rituals. People in south wake up early in the morning before sunrise and apply a mixture of Kumkum on their foreheads which is prepared by mixing kumkum in oil which symbolizes blood and break a bitter fruit that represents the head of the demon King Narakasur who was killed by Lord Krishna and take oil bath using sandalwood paste.

In Maharashtra state there is a tradition that people take bath in the early morning on the day of Chhoti Diwali by applying uptan which is made of gram flour and fragrant powders. They do this as a custom, when women folk massaged scented oil on the body of Lord Krishna when he returned after defeating demon Narakasur and gave him a good bath to wash away the filth from his body. So this became a traditional practice in Maharashtra. And later they serve steamed vermicelli with milk and sugar or puffed rice with curd.

Origin of Chhoti Diwali :

Chhoti Diwali is originally came into existence with a story of legend which is named as Bali Pratipada where Pratipada means below the opponent's foot. There was a king named Bali who had an immense powers. And with those powers the king did many mistakes thinking that there is no one who could defeat him. Then Lord Vishnu disguised as a sage of tiny Bhramin and appeared in front of King Bali. The king offered sage to ask any wish, the sage asked Bali that he wants the land that could cover in 3 paces. King Bali immediately agreed to the wish. Then the sage assumed a gigantic form and claimed the world
of Mrityuloka and Swargloka in two paces. Then sage asked king to put his foot down the 3rd time on Bali’s head, the king has to agree to keep up his promise, then the king was thrown into pathalok. Thus  how the reign of Bali was overthrown.

Narakasur's mother Bhudevi declared that his death should not be a day of mourning but the day has to be celebrated with joy.

So the day before Diwali is celebrated on a smaller scale, with fewer lights lit and fewer crackers burst. Women at the early morning after Chhoti Diwali, make beautiful, colored rangoli in the doorway and courtyard with tiny footprints made out of rice paste are a special feature of the rangolis made for Diwali. Chhoti Diwali celebrations perform ritual pooja to Goddess Laxmi and also to Lord Rama in the evening.

why diwali is celebrated

Indians celebrate each and every festival with great enthusiasm where Diwali is one of the major Hindu festival which is celebrated on the no-moon day i.e. on Amavasya according to Hindus. Diwali festival is celebrated to commemorate the victory of good over the evil.
This festival is celebrated for five days, where the 3rd day is celebrated as the Festival of lights Diwali in the Hindu month of Ashwin, that comes in October or November of every year.

Diwali festival teaches us the Indian old age culture to defeat ignorance that subdues humanity and to drive away darkness that engulfs the light of knowledge. Even in today’s modern generation Diwali festival is celebrated with rich and glorious past of India.

There are many mythical and historical reasons for why Diwali festival is celebrated not only for Hindus but also for all others to celebrate this great Festival.

Mythological reasons :

1. According to the mythological review Lord Vishnu when he was in 5th form of Vaman-avtaara rescued Goddess Lakshmi from the prison of King Bali on this auspicious day i.e. on Diwali. So for this reason people worship goddess Larkshmi during Diwali festival.

2. People celebrate Diwali festival for the victory of good over evil where Lord Krishna Killed demon Narakaasur on the preceding day before Diwali festival and rescued 16,000 women from his prison. So this festival is celebrated as victory festival.

3. According to the great epic ‘Mahabharata, Diwali festival is celebrated on the return of pandavas after the 12 years of vanvas- the exile of their defeat in the hands of the Kauravas at the game of dice. On the day of karthilk Amavashya, when pandavas returned to their kingdom, people who loved them celebrated the day by lighting the earthen lamps as Diwali festival.

4. Diwali has another epic of Ramayana  for its celebrations as Lord Rama, his wife Sita and Laxmana returned to Ayodhya on new moon day of Kartik after killing Ravana who took away Sita mata when they were in Vanvas. So people of Ayodhya decorated the entire city with the earthen lamps and celebrated as Diwali with great enthusiasm like never before. And Lord Rama is crowned as the king of Ayodhya.

Historical Reasons:

1. Diwali festival has a historical event as the greatest Hindu King Vikramaditya was coroneted on the day of Diwali festival.

2. Diwali festival day is a very special day for the Arya Samaj people.
One of the greatest reformers of Hinduism and the founder of Arya Samaj, Maharshi Dayananda attained his nirvana (heaven ) on the day of new moon day of Kartik i.e. on the day of Diwali.

3. Even Diwali is a special day for Jains sinve the founder of modern Jainism Mahavir Tirthankar also attained his nirvana on the day of Diwali.

4. Sikhs also celebrate Diwali as a special day where on the day of Diwali in the year 1577, at Amritsar their laid a  foundation stone for the Golden Temple. And another historic reason for Sikhs to celebrate this Diwali festival is when the sixth Sikh Guru Hargobind and other kings were released who were held by Jahengir a Mughal Emperor of Gwalior.

The first big festival of the season celebrated by all Hindus of India with different names. Dasara (Dussehra) is one of the popular and enthralling festivals of India celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm. It is also known as "Vijayadashami". The Dussehra festival celebration is unique in its perspective and significance. Is the celebration of the Victory of Good over Evil.

Every festival in India epitomizes the social, cultural and religious aspirations of the people. Every festival brings with it few days of happiness and joy in the life of the people
The festival is dedicated to the worship of Mother Goddess or Shakti and her nine forms. This season is considered to be an auspicious one as it is generally associated with the sowing of seeds
The last three days are especially considered most important. The nine-day is equally divided in worshiping three goddesses. The first three days are dedicated to Goddess Durga. The next three days are spent in worshipping goddess Lakshmi and the last three days are dedicated to Goddess Saraswati. The day after Navratri the festival of Dussehra is celebrated.

Dussehra means the Tenth Day, being the 10th day of the bright half of Ashvin. This day is also known as Vijayadashmi, or the Victory Tenth, because of the victory of Ram over Ravana In the months of Ashwin and kartik, Hindus observe a 10 day ceremony of fast, rituals, celebrations, fiests to honor the mother Goddess and triumph of Lord Rama over Demon Ravana. Dussehra also symbolizes the triumph of warrior Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon, Mahishasura. Thus, it is a celebration of victory of good over evil.
On this day in Satyug, Ram (the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu), killed the great demon and king of Lanka, Ravan, who had abducted Ram's wife Sita. Ram, along, with his brother Lakshman, follower Hanuman, and an army of monkeys fought a great battle for ten days to rescue his wife Sita.
In north India, gigantic effigies of the ten-headed Ravana and his brothers are set aflame amidst bursting of crackers.

As Dussehra is preceded by the Navratri or the nine days of the worship of Goddess Durga, some rituals related to the Goddess are also carried out that day. The rituals of Durga Puja involve the usual puja of goddess Durga along with Lord Ram.

This celebration starts from Navratri and ends with the tenth day festival of “Dussehra”. Navratri and Dussehra is celebrated throughout the country at the same time, with varying rituals, but with great enthusiasm and energy as it marks the end of scorching summer and the start of winter season.

The 'Ramlila' - an enactment of the life of Lord Rama, is held during the nine days preceding Dussehra. On the tenth day (Dussehra or Vijay Dasami), larger than life effigies of Ravana, his son and brother - Meghnadh and Kumbhakarna are set to fire.

The theatrical enactment of this dramatic encounter is held throughout the country in which every section of people participates enthusiastically.

how to balance time for work and personal life

Over the past generation it was easy for a person to balance time for work and personal life. But the days have changed, today everyone is running beyond the time and performing tasks which are becoming
very difficult in balancing time for work and personal life and are living stressful life. Majority of the people are having a more difficult time to balance time in their lives because they are afraid of cutbacks or layoffs in their job. That is why people are forced to work for more hours.

Unless one has control over the working hours at their job they can never get time to balance life between work and personal life so focus your time and attention on things you can control.

1. One must realize that neither your personal life is your complete job
nor your work is completely your job. Both are valued equally and are
components of your multidimensional experience. To manage both your work and personal life one need to set priorities according to the requirement of both which is helpful in staying on track without wasting much time on significant things where you feel relaxed by eliminating unnecessary activities in your life with proper balance in time.

2. As the technology is expanding in the present generation, people are getting addicted to the technology with excessive usage of phones, playing games on computer and sitting on Internet chatting. These things will havoc your time management with work and personal life. But this is not life meant to be lived there instead use the technology in a discipline manner with proper planning.

3. Don’t postpone things whether it is related to your personal life or job work. If the work is postponed then you need to have extra time to finish the work and have to face pain and stress while doing work. So
take immediate action instead of putting off.

4. To balance between work and personal life you need to work like an executive. And that doesn’t mean that all the things must be done by you alone instead delegate tasks to others who are capable of doing so that you get free time for most important tasks.

5. Most of the people waste their time on others and other activities
that are of no use for them like spending time with colleagues
and gossiping during working hours, making personal calls
spend time on the web and social media sites which are making us less efficient in balancing time for work and personal life.

6. Though priorities are set, they tend to change according to the situation since life has a way of introducing unexpected surprises. So you need to be flexible in order to hold such tasks by changing priorities with necessary directions to perform. With this you can gain the flexibility you need to move with the changes.

7. Many organizations have policies in place to help employees to balance time for work and personal life. Most businesses recognize that workers who are healthier and more balanced are better for the organization’s productivity.

8. Take vacations and come back to work with refreshed mind then you can give more productive work.

how to invest on gold stocks

Gold the most precious metal on earth is becoming more demanding in countries like India and people are urging for gold invests for future.
Even industries are using gold then such situation prevails demand for gold increases with the possibility of hike in its price. With the price of gold rising and the demand increasing more and more all the time, gold stocks are a very good investment and that can be evident by the high profit margins that the gold companies have been reporting.

Investing in gold gives direct counter to dollar fall in its value and cause rise in gold through investing in stocks like in metal itself, mutual funds, or gold mining stock. If the gold prices are high, then gold companies can make more for every ounce of gold they produce, but their net profits depend on their cash costs; how much it costs them to produce an ounce of gold which varies from company to company.

Most of the investors separate gold stocks into categories.
There are many ways to invest in gold which includes buying gold bullion or coins, investing into funds based on gold prices, or even going the indirect route and buying stock in companies that mine gold.

1. Since retail investors have remained away out of gold stocks. Many of the gold ETF's have hit the market which are the easiest way to invest in gold known as an Exchange-Traded Fund – ETF. This makes it possible for an investor to buy "paper gold" and need not worry about doing homework on exploration providers. ETFs are essentially funds which are based on the price of specific currency and follow the price of gold.

2. As the future growth is going to be seen in gold as the ultimate shelter from many a financial crises, so gold stocks provide much stability as gold coins. Before investing in gold stocks make sure you are familiar with gold market products.

3. The basic way to invest in gold is buying gold bullion which has no ornamental value while buying gold rather it is simply the gold weight. But most of the people who wants to invest in gold bullion they think of gold bars or ingots, but really most bullion is in coin form. And investing gold in bullion form very good option.

But when buying gold in bullion make sure about the price you pay is according to the market rate.  Many governments and mints issue gold bullion coins in smaller amounts which are available for purchase pure gold and have market rate to invest on gold.

3. Another way to invest in gold is by investing in gold mine which deals indirectly. Since more expensive mining techniques are used to extract gold the cost of gold increases, so companies success is purely dependent on its profits due to rise or fall with the movement of gold. Thus investing on gold through mining companies is riskier job.
If the price of gold falls the mining company comes to an end. So a new investor is recommended not to go for gold stocks with mining companies.

4. Those who are hesitant to invest in physical gold and still have a desire to the precious metal then gold mutual funds are the best way to invest in gold. Gold mutual funds will have the profitable track record and portfolios of companies those hold gold stocks over the years. These companies own established mines that produce known quantities of gold each year so selection of such company is a more moderate.

5. Junior stocks are more speculative and are less likely to own productive mines with higher potential profits with greater risk of loss. This type of investments is suitable for those investors who can tolerate risk and accept the possibility of gold-based losses in exchange for the potential for triple-digit gains.

how to deal with work gaps in your resume

Getting a job with proper resume has become very crucial these days and in that situation filling gaps in your resume about your work is a very difficult task since the resume discloses your skills and accurate
summary of your qualifications, education and work experience.
And in that one cannot ignore work gaps as they have to be
addressed directly otherwise employers may make negative assumptions about such gaps.

One may need to take time from long time workforce may be for any reason like you may want to pursue any dream passion which you want to fulfill or may be you need to take care of your baby or any reason but the potential employers will only hire you when you regardless of how you spend your time should be presented very effectively to deal with your work gap on your resume.

If you have gaps in your work and are now looking to get back to work an updated resume should be prepared by filling those gaps with honest explanation so that employers get impressed with your updated resume and ignore your work gaps. If there are shorter gaps then you need not give any explanation or mention in your resume as they are not noticed by employers.

But if you take longer gaps must be addressed in your resume
whether those long gaps are personal or professional reasons
without giving chance to any negative assumptions to the employer.
Mention anything that you have learnt to develop your skills and increase your market value. Explain the employer the benefits of your work gap in your career personally since this would be a definite question asked by employer during an interview. But if you attend an interview without filling work gap on your resume, hoping that no one will notice then you will lose.

Since you have to fill the work gaps in your resume don’t include your  short-term job which is out of your profession. Mention only those work experiences that will help you to get the job your are waiting for. Highlight something which you have accomplished during that time of break if you don’t have done nothing to fill the gap in your resume when seeking for new job.

Never ever mention both month and year in your updated resume because there is a greater chance that your work gaps in employment will be revealed as there is a clear mention of date and year of your work. Only if you have long work history then employers many not question about your gaps in your work. But it is good to prepare resume without mentioning dates and include only year.

And if your resume format has to be mentioned date followed by your job title, make the job title bold or increase the font size by leaving the date in regular font to draw the attention of employers away from the work gap that is revealed on your resume.

There are two categories of resume preparation functional resume and
chronological resume where functional resume describes only skills but recruiters prefer chronological resumes because they are easier to read and list skills and job functions as they apply to each position.

Don't apologize for your decision for taking work gaps as it points out your weakness rather than your strengths. But be proud of your accomplishments because if you have taken gap from your work should be positive. It may even be that your time away from work may actually benefited your career.
